Madison County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit Seizes 1.6 Pounds of Methamphetamine, Recovers Stolen Vehicle

HUNTSVILLE-On Monday, January 12,deputies with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit, with assistance from Sheriff’s K-9 deputies, made a significant drug arrest following a traffic stop in the area of Poplar Avenue and Calvary Street in Huntsville.

During the traffic stop, deputies seized approximately 1.6 pounds of methamphetamine, recovered a stolen vehicle, and located a handgun. The driver, Charles Nicholas Young, 47, was taken into custody and charged with Drug Trafficking, Receiving Stolen Property 1st, and Certain Persons Forbidden from Possession of a Handgun. Young was transported to the Madison County Jail, where he was booked without incident.
“This arrest is the result of proactive policing and the dedication of our deputies,” said Sheriff Kevin Turner. “Taking this amount of methamphetamine off our streets protects lives and stops destruction before it reaches our neighborhoods. We will continue to pursue those who brings dangerous drugs and violence into Madison County.”
