Betty Jo (Lineberry) Martin ObituaryBetty Jo Lineberry Martin was born on February 16 th , 1932 in Clifton to Fred and Macie
(Inman) Lineberry. She was the third of five children born with older brothers Winfred
and Frank, younger sister Dorothy Sue and youngest brother Wayne. She attended and
graduated from Frank Hughes School in 1948. She met her future husband Paul Yabro
Martin in Clifton when she was 18 years old. They married on March 17 th , 1951. Their
son Tommy Lee Martin was born the next year on April 27 th , 1952. Betty Jo worked for
the longest period of her career at the Washington Manufacturing Company in Linden.
She also worked at the sewing factory in Clifton. She was a busy body and after retiring
went to work again at Montrex in Linden and she later worked at Frank Hughes School
in the Grandmother program helping children to read in the library. Two of her greatest
passions in life were gardening and her girls. She doted on her nieces April and Susan
and took care of them as her own. On January 31 st , 1981, her son Tommy married Jane
Embry and they proceeded to have four daughters, Lily, Holly, Jasmine and Cheyenne
Rose. She and Paul loved and cared for all of those girls with a fierceness and lived to
spoil them. The four granddaughters grew up and gave Betty Jo and Paul five great
granddaughters and one grandson including a granddaughter of her namesake, Betty.

Betty Jo was of the Christian faith and was a lifelong member of the Riverside
Community Church. It is at said church where she celebrated her 50 th wedding
anniversary with Paul and her 90 th birthday with a huge party for each. It is where Paul’s
service was held when he predeceased her on March 26 th , 2015 and where is buried. It
is therefore fitting that Betty Jo’s visitation, service and burial also take place at
Riverside Church.

Betty Jo is survived by her sister, Dorothy Sue Lineberry Prater, by her son, Tommy and
daughter-in-law Jane Martin, by their four daughters, Lily (Hayes) Wellington, Holly
(Ryan) McDonald, Jasmine (Patrick) Ross, Cheyenne (Ian) Martin Keeter, and by great
grandchildren Kylie Wellington, Heidi McDonald, Meadow Wellington, Reece McDonald,
Betty Ross and Maggie Ross.

Visitation for Betty Jo Martin will be held at Riverside Community Church on Saturday,
November 29 th at 5:00 pm for family and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm for the public. And on
Sunday, November 30 th , at 11:00 am for family and 12:00 pm until the service begins at
2:00 pm with burial to follow.
