Mrs. Charlotte Ann Hillis, age 63, of the Morgan City community in Lacey’s Spring, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Huntsville Hospital on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. Born August 22, 1962, in Waterloo, Michigan, Charlotte was the cherished daughter of Ray Nelson and Doris Nelson. Charlotte was of the Southern Baptist faith. She married Buford Wade Hillis in 1998, and together they have shared many happy years. She had worked on Redstone Arsenal with Phoenix Services.

Charlotte will be lovingly remembered for her sweet and gentle nature. She had a kind heart and her warmth and compassion was evident to all who knew her. Charlotte’s love for animals was especially evident. She had an enormous amount of affection for her three Pomeranian dogs: Smoky, Elvis, and Pricilla. Charlotte enjoyed playing bingo in her leisure time, enjoying the fellowship with friends and fellow players. She was a huge fan of the Little House on the Prairie TV show and was a supporter of the Auburn Tigers.

Family members surviving Charlotte include her husband, Buford Wade Hillis; grandchildren, Trinity Wade Hillis, Evan Lee Christine Hillis, Aubrey Gaile Hillis, Brooklyn Kay Hillis and Braden Odell Hillis.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Doris Nelson; stepson, Buford Hillis, Jr.; and brother, David Nelson.
Memorial Services for Charlotte will be at Brindlee Mountain Chapel in Morgan City on November 7, 2025. Visitation will be 1:00 until the memorial service begins at 2:00pm. Brother Craye Hall will officiate.
