Curtis “LeRoy” Anderton, 62, of Union Grove, Alabama, peacefully made his crossing on Sunday night, surrounded by his loving family.
LeRoy was an avid outdoorsman with a deep love for the woods. Hunting was one of his greatest joys, and he especially loved walking through the trees, quietly stalking deer and taking in the beauty of nature. He also loved his work family-he spent many years operating heavy equipment for Reed Materials, where he was respected for his hard work and dedication.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Leonard Anderton; mother, Thelma Ruth Anderton; brother, Russell Rodney Anderton; granddaughter, Elizabeth Marie Anderton; father-in-law, James Ollen Beck; Paul Anthony Bartinkaitis; mother-in-law, Linda Beck Bartinkaitis; and nephew, Randy Atchley.
LeRoy is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Amanda Beck Anderton; his two beloved chihuahuas, Sugar Bear and Lil Man; two sons, Leonard Lathaniel and John Curtis (Samantha) Anderton; daughter, Shaenna Anderton (Philip Jarman); grandchildren, Amber Nicole Anderton, Kenley Anderton, John Anderton, Kohen Anderton, Jaxon Anderton, and Braven Jarman; daughter-in-law, Shauna Campbell Anderton; sisters, Sharon Anderton Hill, Myra Gail (David) Atchley, and Amy Inez (Thomas) Atchley; brothers, Bill Ladale (Tina) Anderton and Jonathan (Niece) Anderton; sisters-in-law, Stephanie Beck (Jimmy) Long, Christina Hatzakis, and Sherry Anderton; brother-in-law, Pastor Jeff (Tabatha) Beck; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved him dearly.
He is also survived by his uncle, Kenneth Anderton; aunts, Betty Todd and Rita Anderton; uncle-in-law, Bobby Jones; and his five cherished godchildren, Hannah Nunnelley, Skylyn Davis, Lauren Jackson, Bryant Davis, and Wyatt Terrell.
Pallbearers will be Clifton Salmon, Mike Terrell, Chastain Reed, Dusty Whisenant, Brian Peek, and J.P. Jackson. Honorary pallbearers include Wyatt Terrell, James Terrell, and Dale Whisenant.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at New Hope Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in the New Hope Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Joe David Moore officiating.
Interment will take place at Old Prospect Cemetery.
