Bobby Franklin Hill, age 84, of Athens, Alabama, passed from this life on October 18, 2025.
Bobby was born on December 4, 1940, in Limestone County to Leslie and Kathleen Hill. He was a believer in Christ and a member of Round Island Baptist Church. Bobby retired from Monsanto Chemical Company, where he worked diligently as a foreman and took great pride in providing for his family.
An avid outdoorsman, Bobby found joy in hunting and fishing—passions he lovingly passed down to his children and grandchildren. As a skilled craftsman, he enjoyed building, painting, and working with his hands. He also loved spending time in his garden, tending to his plants and enjoying the rewards of his hard work. On Sundays after church, he could be found relaxing in his recliner, watching NASCAR and cheering on his favorite driver.
He is survived by his daughters, Lynn Hudson (husband Rusty) of Athens and Gwen Peters (husband Jake) of Nashville; his son, Travis Hill (wife Becky) of Athens; grandchildren, Zach Hudson (wife Ana), Emily Hill, Mason Hill, and Fred Peters; great-grandchildren, Ella and Adrian Hudson. He was affectionately known as “PopPop” to all his grandchildren and great-grands. He is also survived by his siblings, Ray Hill, Sue Broadway, Nancy Pratt, and Stanley Hill, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Estes Hill; his parents, Leslie and Kathleen Hill; and his sister, Annie Ruth Hill Evans.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm at Spry Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service and interment at Lentzville Cemetery at 1:30pm. Brother Mike Green will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Zach Hudson, Mason Hill, and Fred Peters; his brothers, Ray Hill and Stanley Hill; and his close hunting and fishing friends, Stan Bates and Danny Robinson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bobby’s honor to Huntsville Hospital Hospice Family Care.
