FLORENCE-The “50501 movement” is a grassroots protest movement known as the 50501 Movement, which stands for “50 protests, 50 states, one movement“. It organizes decentralized nationwide protests, primarily to oppose the policies and actions of the Donald Trump administration.
On October 18 a national protest was held in all 50 states holding marches and rallies with over 2,700 being held. According to records from the 50501 organization there were over 7 million people who attended these protests on October 18, with this being the largest protest rally against a president in the history of the United States.
The Shoals area held a rally in Wilson Park with estimates of up to 500 hundred people in attendance. Organizers of the rally, Rae Eliza, Steve and Sheri Wiggins, and Charles Rose were excited about the turn out and have included photos here to document the historic event:
