Johnnie Mae Bostick Gattis, 93, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2025 at her residence. She was born in Red Bay, AL to Flois Bostick and Rachel Smith Bostick. She had worked as a babysitter and also at The Belmont Journal. Johnnie Mae lived her life for her family, was the loving wife of Woodroe Gattis and was a dearly loved mother and grandmother. She was the best cook and loved to travel and sit on the front porch. She was the oldest member of Highland Baptist Church. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and going to church.
Services will be Tuesday, October 7, 4 p.m. at Highland Baptist Church, Tishomingo, MS with Bro. Mark Daily officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 7, 2-4 p.m. at Highland Baptist Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her children, Jean Starkey (Richard), Tommy Joe Gattis, Rick Gattis (Lynn), Don Gattis and Debbie Pruitt (Mike); grandchildren, Brad Starkey (Julie), Kristie Russ (Junior), Melanie Morris (John), Sandy Donahue (Ronnie), Jack Gattis, Daniel Gattis (Lauren) and Rickydon Thorn; great-grandchildren, Devin Starkey (Laken), Chelsey Sauls (Camron), Tye Starkey (Jeana), Madison Hyde (Hunter), Jordan Arnold (Jordan), Payton Arnold, Dalton Donahue, Connor Donahue, Bailee Gattis (Garrett Lynch), Brynlee Gattis, Hannah Parsons (Covy), Tucker Thorn, Alyssa Thorn and Maelee Thorn and nine great-great-grandchildren and one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband; infant daughter, Patty Carol Gattis; daughter-in-law, Sherry Gattis and son-in-law, Roger Thorn.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Hyde, Daniel Gattis, Jack Gattis, Brad Starkey, Junior Russ, John Morris, Matt Bostick, Rickydon Thorn and Ronnie Donahue.
Honorary pallbearers will be Garrett Lynch, Kenny Gattis, Gary Richard Bostick, Kent McClung, Dustin Ware, Jordan Arnold, Payton Arnold, Dalton Donahue and Connor Donahue.
