Carol Ann “Rooney” Haskett passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, in Lacey’s Spring, Alabama. Born on November 24, 1945 in Hillsboro, OH to Denver Russell and Helen McCall Kidder. Carol was affectionately known as Rooney, having received this nickname from her father, who bestowed nicknames to all of his children.
Rooney is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Larry Haskett; daughters Laura Cole of Wisconsin and Trishia Haskett of Alabama; and son Denver “DJ” Haskett of Alabama. Rooney was preceded in death by her son David C. Haskett, her parents, brother Russell Leon Kidder, and sister Vivian Smith. Rooney is survived by sisters Janet Owens and Sharon Fischer, 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Rooney was a proud military wife for over 20 years, following her husband to many different states and countries. She enjoyed a long career as an administrative professional in the civil service before retiring in 1999. Rooney was a top performer and received many awards over the years, including Employee of the Year at Lakenheath Air Force Base. Before retiring, Rooney enjoyed time playing cards with friends and bowling with her husband and friends. Rooney had a witty spirit and enjoyed spirited discussions. She will be deeply missed by her family.
The family will gather to celebrate her life at The Kopper Kettle in Morristown, IN at 1:00 pm on November 1, 2025.
