John Christopher “Chris” Cheatham, age 60 of Jasper, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at his home.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home, graveside services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Chris was a hardworking businessman, a devoted husband & father, and a proud grandfather. He was truly the provider and protector of his family, always putting others before himself. Though he could be a little grumpy at times, his love ran deep and his protective nature was unwavering. Affectionately nicknamed “Grumps” by his grandchildren, he embraced the title with pride.
Chris took pride in his work and the connections he made through owning Heavy Maintenance Supply alongside his partner, Ray Howton. Known for his sharp honesty, he never minced words—those around him always knew exactly where he stood. He also had a gift for fixing just about anything, and his determination and strength were evident in all he did.
He was preceded in death by his Father-Stephen Cheatham; Grandparents-Agnes Kirkwood Cheatham & Edd Taylor Cheatham; Grandparents-Margaret Underwood Harmon & John Aubrey Underwood.
He is survived by his Wife of 36 years-Renee Cheatham; his Daughter-Molly Daniel (Trey); Grandchildren-Cooper Wayne Daniel & Maggie Renee Daniel; Mother-Diane Underwood Cheatham; Sister-Stephanie Cheatham.
