Jethro Richard Morgan, age 88, of the Union Hill community of Morgan County, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s residence on Thursday morning, August 28, 2025. Born in Morgan County, AL, Jethro was one of seven children born to John Richard Morgan and Pearl D. Davis Morgan. His first wife and mother of his children was Kathryn Jean Morrow Morgan (DOD 3/3/2016). Jethro was a self-employed cabinet maker by trade, owner and operator of Morgan Custom Cabinets. He was a member of Little Gethsemane House of Prayer in Lacey’s Spring, AL.
Jethro was a man of many talents and passions. He was known for building guitars by hand, filling his home with music through his singing and picking, and crafting saddles and bridles with remarkable skill. He loved traveling through the Smoky Mountains and cherished every moment spent with his beloved grandchildren. Jethro was also a dedicated cabinet maker, respected for his craftsmanship and attention to detail.
His legacy of love, music, and skilled handiwork will be fondly remembered by his family and all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit lives on through the memories he created and the lives he touched.
Jethro is preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Jean Morrow Morgan; parents, John and Pearl Morgan; sons, Ricky Morgan, Ronnie Morgan and Johnny Morgan: two brothers and four sisters.
Family left behind to cherish memories include his wife, Joyce Woodard Morgan; daughters, Donna Tungate (Cecil) and Betty Jo Ludwig (Tom); stepdaughter, Debbie Williams (Steve), stepson, Eddie Woodard (Mary); seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
Services for Jethro will be at Brindlee Mountain Chapel in Morgan City on Saturday, August 30, 2025. Visitation will be from 11:00am until the funeral service begins at 1:00pm. Brother Eddie Woodard and Brother Steve Williams will conduct services. Brother Johnathan Morgan will conduct the committal graveside service. Honored to serve as pallbearers and escorting Jethro to his final resting place in Mt. Olive Cemetery will be Johnathan Morgan, Matthew Morgan, Matthew Warren, Cecil Tungate, Nick Ludwig, and Logan Walker. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
