Mary Anne Carter Sims, born October 21,1934 in Rome, GA passed away on July 8, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Hazel Carter, her brother William “Bill” Carter, son Steven Atkinson and daughter Angelia Sims.
Mary is survived by her husband of 43 years Eldred M. Sims, Jr. of Decatur, daughters Carol A. Key (Richard), of Birmingham, Tracy A. Edgar (Tim) of Marietta GA, and son Donnie M. Sims (Rita) of Leighton, eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was a homemaker for many years but then began work in 1975 as a receptionist for Morgan County Emergency Management Assoc. and retired after 27 years as the Deputy Director.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 12-2 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home followed by A Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 PM. in the chapel with Rev. Matt Rouse officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Key, Riley Key, Andrew Durham, Noah Sims, Jason Kimbrell, and Mark Moody.
