William Lee Lanier, born October 17, 1946, in Montgomery, Alabama. Lee was the son of William and Lou Lanier.

Lee is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sheila Wise Lanier, his two children — son Christopher Lee Lanier and daughter Alissa Ann Williams — and his five grandchildren: Russell, Blake, Lexis, Kalee, and Haley, as well as five great-grandchildren: Kash, Karter, Kai, Sawyer, and Kru.

Lee graduated from Bremen High School in IL, in 1964, then went on to college at the University of North Alabama in Florence, AL. He joined the U.S. Army and served three years in Anchorage, Alaska, as a proud American. After that, he returned to Illinois where he worked for several companies. Over the years, he moved his family to Chesterfield, MO; Safety Harbor, FL; Tarpon Springs, FL; Bradenton, FL — and eventually back to the outskirts of Florence, AL, in Killen.

Lee was a proud, quiet man who loved his wife, kids, and grandchildren. He chose his friends carefully and cherished his closest friends with his heart.

Dad, you will be missed by all who loved you. And as you said with some of your last words — we’ll see you somewhere over the rainbow.

Love you,
Your Family
