It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Marion Paul Harris, age 72, of Arab, Alabama. Paul departed this life on June 2, 2025, at his residence in Cullman County, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and cherished memories.
Paul was born on May 12, 1953, in Albertville, Alabama, to Earnest Hyatt Harris and Mary Catherine Alldredge Harris. A dedicated student, he graduated from Douglas High School in 1972 before answering the call to serve his country. From 1973 to 1976, Paul served honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, exemplifying bravery and commitment.
On March 24, 1973, Paul married the love of his life, Barbara Thomas Harris. Together, they celebrated 52 years of a beautiful and enduring marriage, embodying steadfast devotion and a bond that inspired all who knew them.
Paul’s life was a testament to hard work, loyalty, and love for his family and community. He will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering support for those he cared about, and the countless ways he enriched the lives of those around him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; sons and daughters-in-law, Richie and Angie Harris, Jeremy and Jennifer Harris, and Benji and Ambre Harris; grandchildren, Ashley (Noah) Walker, Mackenzie (Zack) Tankersley, Dakota (Winter) Harris, Bethany, Katie, Gracie, Daniel and Blake Harris; Mea and Dale Arrington; great-grandchildren, Grady, Russell and Abby Walker and Harrison Tankersley; brother, Loyd Harris; sisters, Ernestine Hopper and Mary Harris; sister in law, Shelia Harris and a host of extended family and friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
Paul is preceded in death and has now reunited with his parents, Earnest and Mary Harris; brother, J.L. Harris; sister, Sara Ann Harris; sister-in-law, Reba Harris; and daughter in law, Charlotte Harris.
Arrangements for a celebration of Paul’s life will include a visitation time on Friday evening, June 6 from 6:00 until 8:00pm at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be on Saturday morning, June 7, at 11:00am also at Arab Heritage. Paul’s final resting place will be in Horton, Alabama at Liberty Hill Cemetery. Don Hill and Ms. Linda Flynn will be officiating. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel entrusted with arrangements.
