Joe E. Elam was born March 14, 1948 in McNairy County, Tennessee the son of the late Floyd (Doc) Dolphus and Nellie Elam.
Mr. Elam was born, raised, & lived his entire life in Selmer, TN. He departed this life on May 26, 2025 in Selmer, Tennessee at his home, at the age of 77.
Mr. Elam was a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church in Selmer, Tennessee. He was owner and operator of Elam’s Garage in Selmer, TN. In earlier years he worked as a Shrimp man overseas. He enjoyed dancing, spending time with his friends, and family but he especially enjoyed his time with his granddaughter Shelby, great granddaughter Willow, and his great great nephew Austin “the Giant”.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Elam was preceded in death by three brothers; James R. Elam, Gerald Elam, and A. W. Elam; a sister; Linda Elam, 2 nephews, 2 nieces, & 2 great great nieces.
He is survived by to cherish his memory; 1 daughter
Tammy (Phillip) Forsyth of Selmer, TN, 1 granddaughter Shelby (Wesley) Cotner of Selmer, TN, & 1 great granddaughter Willow Cotner of Selmer, TN. A host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great & great great nieces, nephews, & all of his friends.
