Juanita King Stephens, 80, of Huntsville, passed away February 14, 2025. She was born May 30, 1944, in Marshall County, Alabama to the late Gordon Milford King and Myrtle Gertrude Walls King. Juanita’s hobbies were sewing, quilting, cooking, and caring for her family. She was a 1962 graduate of Kate Duncan Smith DAR High School.

Survivors include children, Darren Lee Stephens (Linda) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Christopher Dewayne Stephens (Amy Henson Stephens) of Huntsville, Alabama, and Jason Dewight Stephens; grandchildren, Ian Christopher Stephens (Jessica Xu) of Fort Worth, Texas, Amber Nicole Stephens of Montgomery, Alabama, Austin Blaine Stephens of Russell, Kansas, and William Gordon Stephens of Dallas, Texas; great-grandchild, Elizabeth Xu Junhan Stephens; brothers, Johnny Lee King of Warren, Michigan (Debbie Wertz King) and Quintin Eugene King of Arab, Alabama; sister, Angela King Duran (William Thomas Duran V) of Huntsville, Alabama; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brother and sister-law, Milford Oneal King and Cathy White King; and sister and brother-in-law, Edna Ruth King Hardin and Donald Lane Hardin.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 on February 17, 2025, at Grant Church of Christ, 4197 Cathedral Caverns Hwy, Grant, Alabama 35747. The service will be officiated by Reverand Dr. Randy Jenkins of Central Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Huntsville, Alabama and friend of Juanita’s family. Music for her Celebration of Life will be 1. “No Tears In Heaven,” her personal favorite Southern Gospel hymn and 2. “My Final Song,” a recording of her dad singing and Juanita playing the piano. Juanita’s body was cremated and will be interned in a private family ceremony at the New Prospect Cemetery, Swearengin, Alabama beside her parents.
