Mr. Clarence Herbert Gordon  Mr. Clarence Herbert Gordon
Sonny was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle
and friend. He gently entered the gates of heaven in his
sleep at the Floyd E. “Tut” Fann State Veterans Home on
February 15, 2025.
Born Clarence Herbert on a Monday to James and Ida
Gordon in LaGrange, GA his grandmother promptly
renamed him Sonny and it stuck through all 95 of his
years.
Sonny was a quiet, humble man with a love of baseball,
westerns, country and big band era music. He served his
nation in both the active-duty Army and National Guard
and went on to serve his community starting as a meter
reader/lineman with the Guntersville Electric Board and
worked his way up to Manager.
If asked, Sonny would not hesitate to tell you the best
thing in his life was his beloved wife, Jane, of 66 years
followed closely by his two sons Craig and Terry and their
families.
Sonny loved His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and
declared God’s goodness daily. We celebrate his life in the

full assurance that because of his salvation we will see
him again, just as he now sees Jesus face-to-face.
