Billye Jean Cheatham Chandler – Obituary

BillyeBillye Jean Cheatham Chandler passed from this life on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. She was born on August 8, 1922 in Athens to Willie V. and Vernice Yancey Cheatham. She graduated from Coffee High School in Florence, AL.
She married the love of her life, Arlie E. Chandler, on July 19, 1941. They began their family after his return from WWII.
Mrs. Chandler was a Christian and worshipped her entire adult life as a member of Eastside Church of Christ.
Graveside services will be Thursday, May 16, 2013 2:00 p.m., at Roselawn Cemetery with Everett Conn officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, prior to the graveside service.
She is survived by two daughters, Christy Pepper and husband, William and Cathy Davis and husband Ted; five grandchildren, Will Pepper, Drew Pepper, Jenny Lind Pepper Johnstone and husband, Bryan, Anna Leigh Davis McGuire all of Athens and Kate Davis of Birmingham. Her four great-grandchildren are, Lilly Grace McGuire, Luke Chandler McGuire, Catherine Chandler Johnstone and Connor William Johnstone all of Athens. She is also survived by sisters and brother-in-laws, Everett Chandler of Cullman, Dorene and Joe Dunnivant of Decatur, Annie Sue and Al Bowers of Birmingham, Elaine and Everett Conn of Harvest and E.M. Chandler, Jr. of Decatur, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arlie Chandler; sister, Jamie Hamilton Burgess; brothers, Arlie Cheatham, Frank Cheatham and Herbert Hamilton.
Mrs. Chandler was blessed with the loving care of caregivers Dottie, Wanda and Sherry.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.
Pallbearers will be Will Pepper, Drew Pepper, Bryan Johnstone, Charles Chandler, Joe Curtis and Wayne Kuykendall.
