Funeral service for Dorothy Marie Prater Powell, 89, will be Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Francis Proctor, Bro. Jonathan Proctor, and Bro. Perry McCravy officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Powell’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Peck Funeral Home.
Mrs. Powell died peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born December 25, 1935, in Lawrence County, to Leanord Prater and Katie Sanford Prater.
Preceding her in death were her husband: Edward Powell, her parents: Pauline and Lenard Prater, sisters: Ruby Mae Powell, Mary Virginia Prater and Jo Ann Steel, and a brother: Charlie Wayne Prater. She also is leaving behind two family pets, Missy and Spuddy, whom she loved dearly.

along with a Host of Great Nieces and Nephews
Pallbearers will be Don Sandlin, Jeff Sandlin, Shane Edge, Steve Edge, Allen Powell, Christopher McCravy, Timothy Proctor, and Wesley McCravy.
She was a self employed Business owner and cosmetologist. She owned and operated Powell’s Beauty Salon, and was a Cosmetologist for most of her life. prior to her retirement. She was a devout Christian and loved going to church, loved praising God with a song. She truly loved singing and loved her family and friends. Mrs. Powell was a positive thinker and tried to make the best of everything. She was loved by many.
Most of all, she loved the Lord and was always sharing Him with others.
