James Thomas Lawrence, 75, passed away on October 4th, 2026. He was born on November 11th, 1950, to JT Lawrence and Virginia Marlow Lawrence.
James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was married to his beloved wife, Jennifer Wooten Lawrence, for 54 years. His family was the center of his life, and he will be remembered for the love and care he gave to those around him.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Wooten Lawrence; daughters, Christy Lawrence Smith (Michael) and Brandie Lawrence Hanserd (Stewart); granddaughter, Jordan Xayavong (Austin); grandson, Joshua Smith (Lauren Street); step-grandsons, Landon Hanserd and Jacob Hanserd; great-granddaughter, Sadie Leigh Xayavong; brothers, Calvin Lawrence (Shelia) and Anthony Lawrence (Kathy); and sisters, Donna Lawrence Beasley (Tommy) and Daphne Lawrence Beasley (Jackie Tucker).
He was preceded in death by his parents, JT Lawrence and Virginia Marlow Lawrence; his sister, Irma Gail Wales; and his brother-in-law, Hugh Wales.
James was a devout Christian with a firm faith and belief in the Lord. He was a member of Truth Baptist for many years where he was very active and loved his church family dearly.
One of James’ greatest pleasures was his great-granddaughter, Sadie Leigh, and spending all the time he could with her.
Funeral services will be held at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home on Friday, October 9th, 2026. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Donald Terry will officiate, with music provided by Shannon Terry. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jack Gaston, Andy Thompson, Josh Smith, Austin Xayavong, Buck Marlow, Louie Holland, Kasey Wooten, and Johnny Newton. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Wooten, Anthony Lawrence, and Calvin Lawrence.
James will be deeply missed by his loving family and all who knew and loved him.
