Margie Ann Hood Profile Photo Margie Ann Hood, age 75 of the Moreland Community, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024 at her residence surrounded by loved ones.

She was born July 11, 1949 to Albert and Beulah Vest. Margie loved her family more than anything else in the world. She spent her entire life taking care of children and was known to many as “Nanny.” She would make sure everyone in her house had plenty to eat. She also enjoyed fishing, yard sales, quilting and watching the Gameshow Network.

She is the inspiration for the term Margie(ing).The Mirriam-Webster Dictionary defines Margie-ing (verb) as “The art of pretending to pay attention while using smiles and head nods, but not listening to a word being said.”

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at New Home Baptist Church in the Moreland Community from 2:00p.m. until 3:00p.m., where service will be held at 3:00p.m.. Burial will be at Moreland Cemetery. Jim Standridge and Brother Rex Riddle will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Randy Hood, Kade Hood, Nick Hood, Austin Winkles, Kennith Smitherman, and Dylan Borden. Honorary pallbearer, Andrew Brown.

Margie is survived by her children, Kelly (Michael) Lively, Tina Winkles (Bradley Cagle), Jamie Hood, Shelly (Jim) Standridge; grandchildren, Randy Hood (Kennith Smitherman), Shay Williams (DJ Helton), Nick (Heather) Hood, Austin (Hannah) Winkles, Amanda Winkles (Andrew Brown), Dylan Borden, Kade Hood (Arleigh Breedwell), Markie Standridge; great grandchildren, Corey and Chloe Lively, Weston, Raylan and Carolyne Hood, Gunner and Leigh Era Winkles, and Avery Meigs. sisters, Clara Jean Morris, Marie (Shirl) Daniel and Freda (Kevin) Hampton; several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Debra Sellers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Hood; sons, Billy Joe Hood Jr., and Jeremy Todd Hood; parents, Albert and Beulah Vest.
