It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jerry W. Lewis on Friday, August 25, 2023, at Optum Hospice Care Suites in Birmingham, Alabama. He was born December 17, 1958, to Jerry Wayne Lewis Sr. and Sarah Kate Lewis.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Wayne Lewis Sr., and father-in-law, Marlin Hollingsworth.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Lewis; son, Kyle Dunlap; son, Blake (Carlee) Lewis; daughter, Jessica (Shelton) Beard; grandchildren, Charlie Dunlap, Harrison Lewis, Virginia Lewis, Leander Beard, Scarlet Beard, and Sofia Beard; mother, Katie Lewis; brother, Nick (Jill) Lewis; mother-in-law, Essie Hollingsworth; brothers-in-law, Danny Hicks and Garry (Ginger)Hicks; sister-in law, Becky (Doug) Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He left behind a legacy of love, compassion, and cherished memories. He was a devoted family man and whose love for his wife, children, and grandchildren knew no bounds. His presence in our lives brought joy, laughter, and unwavering support.

Jerry had many passions in life, one of which was SEC football and a deep love for Auburn University. He was a dedicated fan who would cheer on his team with unparalleled enthusiasm. Jerry was known for his exceptional tailgates and grilling for his friends and guests. He also had a penchant for travel, always seeking new adventures across the country, particularly for concerts featuring his beloved Grateful Dead and exploring our national parks.

For over 30 years, Jerry worked tirelessly in the nursing home industry, making a positive impact on the lives of countless individuals. Through his dedication and hard work, he was promoted multiple times, showcasing his commitment to helping others. Many looked up to Jerry, considering him a mentor and a friend. He approached each day with genuine desire to make a difference and provide comfort to those in need. Jerry made a point each day to find and share what he considered the “win for the day.”

Jerry and Cindy were married for 31 years. Their love and companionship were truly inspiring, as they enjoyed the simple pleasures of life together. Jerry always put his family first above his own needs and cherished each moment with his children and grandchildren.

Jerry treated everyone he encountered with the utmost respect, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kind spirit will be forever remembered by his family and friends. Jerry’s legacy will continue through the lessons he imparted upon us – to love unconditionally, to cherish every moment, and to lend a helping hand whenever possible. Jerry will forever remain in our hearts, and his legacy of selflessness and compassion will continue to inspire us.

We invite you to join us at 2:00 PM on September 6, 2023, at Cullman First United Methodist Church, 320 Third Street SE, Cullman, Alabama 35055, for a memorial service in celebration of his life with reception to follow at The All Steak Restaurant. There will be a visitation from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to WSCC Foundation Jacob Ross Harris Memorial Scholarship.

Your love, support, and cherished memories are a testament to the incredible person he was. May he rest in eternal peace, forever watching over us with those vibrant blue eyes and smile.
