Matilda Ann BatsonMatilda Ann Batson, 68, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023, at North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, Alabama. A private graveside service at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee will be held at a later date.

She was born in Nashville, Tennessee on February 7, 1955 to William Bailey Batson, Jr. and Bobbie Nell Batson. She was preceded in death by her parents and younger brother, Daniel Scott.  She is survived by her brothers, William Bailey Batson III (Sharon) and Garry Mark Batson (Rene); nephews William James Batson, Hunter Cole Batson (Ashley), Robert Bailey Batson, Chad Bailey Batson, and John Andrew Batson; great-nephews Cole Everett, Hayes Hunter, and great-niece, Saylor Elizabeth Batson, and numerous cousins.

Ann was a graduate of Lipscomb University and received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. She practiced in banking law, and then worked for and retired from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Atlanta, Georgia. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Ann was dearly loved. She was a giving, generous person. She regularly supported many causes dear to her heart, especially the Marines Toys for Tots Drive, St. Jude Hospital, and the Humane Society. She enjoyed gardening and adored her pets. Most of all, she loved her family.

The family wishes to thank her wonderful caregivers at Keestone of Florence for their loving care of Ann this past year and a half.
