Mark McWilliams, 29, of Florence (formerly Tuscumbia), passed away Monday, July 3, 2023 following complications from an automobile accident on June 25.
Mark is survived by his wife, Shana McWilliams; parents, Doug and Joanna McWilliams of Tuscumbia; brother, John (Heather) of Tuscaloosa; grandmothers, Mary McWilliams and Trubie Maupin of Tuscumbia; father-and-mother-in-law, Mark and Kathy Scovic; sister-in-law, Nicole Scovic; brother-in-law, Tanner Scovic, all of Colleyville, TX.
He was preceded in death by grandfathers, William McWilliams and Frankie Maupin.
Mark was born June 9, 1994. He graduated from Mars Hill Bible School in 2013 before attending and graduating from the University of Alabama in 2017 with an accounting degree.
He was employed by Occidental Chemical Corporation (Muscle Shoals, AL and New Johnsonville, TN). He left an indelible mark on his colleagues and every community he served. Alabama football, playing basketball, and spending time with family and friends were the things he enjoyed most.
Mark attended Stony Point Church of Christ, where his unwavering faith remained the foundation of his character, guiding his actions and inspiring those around him. In his final act of kindness, Mark donated his organs to benefit others. Though he is no longer with us, we know we will see him again in Heaven.
The family wishes to thank everyone who reached out and prayed for Mark and us during this difficult time. All the acts of love and kindness are very much appreciated.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Mark’s life will be Saturday, July 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Cox Boulevard Church of Christ in Sheffield. Visitation and reception will immediately follow.
