Lois Jean Patterson Hipps, Florence, AL passed away April 8, 2023, after a long, courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).
Jean always felt blessed having been born into a loving family and surrounded by good friends, old and new, throughout her life. Upon her marriage in 1955 to William (Bill) Hipps, she followed and supported his 20- year military career. During this time, they were stationed in San Diego, CA, Belleville, IL and Norfolk, VA. Along the way she made lifetime friends. Although Jean loved the Norfolk area, she was eager to return to Florence to be closer to family upon retirement.
Travel, quilting, yard sales and doting over her dog Rosie and grand kitties were a few of her favorite interests.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents Emmett and Jessie Patterson and special sister-in-law Judy P. Patterson.
She is survived by her daughter, Anita P. Hipps, Fuquay Varina, NC; brother EH Patterson, Florence, AL, loving cousin Sue Ahonen, Florence, AL; and special friend Eve Spring, Knightdale, NC.
At Jean’s request there will be a graveside service. Service will be Saturday, April 15th, at Greenview Memorial Park, Florence, AL beginning at 11:00 am.
