James Thomas Sweeney, 78, of Elkmont, Alabama passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023 in Athens, Alabama. James was born Friday, June 9, 1944 in Pulaski, Tennessee to James Raymond Sweeney and Edith Christine Darnell Sweeney.
James has lived in this area all his life and was a member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Stanley McConnell; sister, Peggy Wright; and granddaughter, Sydney Jacobs.
He is survived by his wife, Ivene Sweeney; son, James McConnell; daughter, Rachel McConnell; brother, Jimmy (Rita) Moore; sister, Judy (Raul) Palamino; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 11 AM – 12 Noon at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama with the Memorial Service starting at 12 Noon with Bro. Adam Moore officiating.
