Obituary of Peggy Davidson Peggy Hoobler Davidson, age 83, of Jasper, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 28, 2023, at UAB Hospital.

Peggy was born March 15, 1939, in Jasper Alabama, the daughter of James Marlon Hoobler and Eva Mae Helms Hoobler. She married James Davidson, August 20, 1961, and they shared over 61 years of loving marriage.

Peggy graduated from Walker County High School and Walker Junior College. She earned a BS and Master’s Degree from the University of Alabama in music education. She taught music to grades K-6 in the Jasper city school system for 30 years. She served as pianist at Westside Baptist Church and Northside Baptist Church.

Peggy was one of the kindest and most loving people in existence. She loved everyone and only saw the good in them. She was so happy to have family and friends visit and didn’t want them to leave. She especially loved children, as was evident in her many years of helping in the church nursery and many years of teaching. Peggy loved music: Whether it was singing or playing the piano, playing in the high school band, or playing in Alabama’s Million Dollar Band. Most of all she loved listening to Andrew play the piano. She was also generous and loved giving people gifts. If anyone said they liked something of hers, she wanted to give it to them… and rarely took no for an answer.

Peggy had the ability to make everyone feel worthy and special. Her kindness to all who crossed her path conveyed how much she truly believed in the goodness of humanity. A true lady in every sense of the word; her motivating inspiration will live on in all those she influenced during her time on earth. It would be difficult for anyone to think of a single bad thing to say about our sweet dear Peggy, for she spent a life lived well in service to her community and her faith, and she did it with a radiant heart and kind spirit.

Family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., at Northside Baptist Church of Jasper, directed by Kilgore – Green Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow at the church at 12 p.m. Pastor David Byrd will officiate.

A graveside service at Walker Memory Gardens will follow (weather permitting).
