Jimmy Ray Dowdy, 73, of Florence, passed away January 9, 2023, at his residence. Mr. Dowdy was a Sales Representative and District Sales Manager with the Conwood Company. He was a member of North Wood Methodist Church and the LIFE Sunday School class. He was a graduate of Waterloo High School, class of 1968, an avid Alabama football fan as well as Atlanta Braves fan. He enjoyed hunting, working in his shop, spending time with family, and most outdoor activities. He will be remembered for his wonderful smile and great sense of humor.
Visitation will be Friday, January 13, 2023 from 12-2:00 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens with Bro. Wayne Williams and Bro. Bradley Hipps officiating.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Curtis E. Dowdy and Jewel Dowdy; brother, Floyd Dowdy; sister Barbara K. McMurtrey; and son, Curtis Nathan (Curt) Dowdy.
Mr. Dowdy is survived by his wife, Debbie Rickard Dowdy; brothers, Fred F. Dowdy, Florence, AL, and Gene H. Dowdy, Madison, Al.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Rickard, Chris James, Cade Newell, Jamie Dowdy, Dale Dowdy and Dalton Dowdy. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Rickard, Bobby Rickard, Perry James, Fred Dowdy, Gene Dowdy and Randy McMurtrey.
