Mary “Christine” Dorris, of Athens, Alabama, passed away on October 12, 2026. She was born on August 10, 1935, to Jake and Mackie Odell Brooks.
Christine is survived by her best friend, Paul Hammond; her daughters, Rita Dotson (James), Shirley Murphy (Jack), and Sherry Melson (Henry); and her grandchildren, Jason Buckelew, Justin Murphy (Lindsey), Jamie Dotson (Michelle), Misty Moor, and Brandon Melson (Susan).
She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Ryder Melson, Emma Murphy, Addie, Brock Dotson, Austin Copeland (Raven), Dalton, Makenzie, Bentley Melson, and Andrew Kelsoe (Emily); her great-great-grandchildren, Emersyn and Blake Kelsoe; her sister-in-law, Pauline Brooks; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Mackie Odell Brooks; her brother, James Brooks; and her sister, Robbie Adams.
A memorial service celebrating Christine’s life will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of the Living God, located at 22806 Sandlin Road, Elkmont, Alabama 35620.
Christine will be remembered with love by her family and friends, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
