UPDATE from Chief Logan on the Officer Involved accident that occurred on Monday:
“As of Tuesday October 11, 2022 at noon, the only update we can provide is that the Tuscumbia police officer involved in last night’s crash is that he is in surgery to repair injuries sustained in last night’s crash. Our department has deferred any investigation or inquires to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency(ALEA) as this is their investigation as protocol in an officer involved incident. Going forward the only releases from our department will be updates on the officer’s condition but no information about the investigation as that is a matter of protocol for ALEA.
Again our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those related to this case.”

TUSCUMBIA-Tuscumbia Police Chief Tony Logan issued a statement concerning the death of one person resulting in a single-vehicle accident involving a Tuscumbia Police Vehicle:
“At approximately 8:16 pm on Monday October 10, 2022 a call was received to the Tuscumbia Police Department from the Colbert 911 Center of a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian struck. The crash was located on Hawk Pride Mountain Road in Tuscumbia. Once law enforcement units arrived on scene it was determined that the vehicle involved was a marked Tuscumbia Police Vehicle. Immediately the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency was notified as is protocol when an on duty police officer or police unit is involved in a serious incident.
The Deputy Coroner of Colbert County Matt Moore pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene and the officer driving the marked Tuscumbia police vehicle was transported by Keller EMS to a nearby landing zone at New Bethel Elementary School where AirEvac landed and transported the officer to Huntsville Hospital.
As of the time of this press release there is no update on the condition of the officer. Any further information in the future of the investigation will be released by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of all of those involved.”
