Funeral service for Larry Neal Buckelew, 73, will be Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Gable and Rev. Alfred Phillips officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery on Old Corn Road in Cullman County. Visitation will be Friday, March 1, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Buckelew passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with lung cancer on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born April 12, 1939, in Cullman County to J.B. Douglas Buckelew and Imogene (King) Buckelew. Mr. Buckelew married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Brown, in June of 1958. They were blessed with 54 years of marriage.
He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1957-1962 and was always a Marine at heart. A special flag will be folded and presented by his Marine Friends, Richard Becker and Herman Stringer.
He was a member of the IBEW Local 1925 and spent his life as an electrician by trade. He served as President of the Morgan County Cattlemen’s Association 2010 and 2011 and was named Cattlewomen’s Father of the year in 2009. An honor that was most deserved.
Mr. Buckelew served as a deacon of Macedonia Baptist Church where he was a faithful servant of the Lord and the community of Battleground.
He loved his life and his family and was most proud of his two grandsons; Sam and Charles. His love for the Lord was evident in his daily walk. He will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.

Four Step Grandchildren: Leslie and Lindsey Hood, Stephanie Tankersley, and April Kilpatrick
Nine Step-Great Grandchildren
A host of cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous wonderful friends.
Pallbearers will be Larry Buckelew, Lamar Buckelew, Randy Roberts, Seth Pillow, Alan Walker, Charles Buckelew, Sam Roberts, Tommy Raley, and Guinn Sparks
Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons of Macedonia Baptist Church: Billy McCravy, Claud Buckelew, Farrell Miller, and Larry Penn.
