Charles Lamont Terrell, 93, of Harvest, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on September 27, 2026. Charles will be remembered as a loving husband, father, Papa, and G-Papa, a faithful friend, and an inspiration to all who knew him.
He served in the U.S. Army with the 4th Infantry Division in the years after the Korean War. On November 2, 1956, he married Lila Jane Laird. They shared 62 years of marriage until her death in 2019. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Mississippi State University in 1963 and later retired from General Electric and Chrysler. He was also a longtime employee of Sparta.
He is survived by his three daughters, Kay Kirkland (Kenny), Janice Cochran (Steve), and Cathy Herfurth (Andrew); eight grandchildren, Kyleen Edger (Cody), Savannah Kirkland, Kristine Fikes (Tyler), Courtney Taylor, Wesley Taylor (Peyton), Bailey Herfurth (Hannah), Meleah Giles (Clay) and Jay Cavender; and eleven great-grandchildren, Roman, Lila Rose, Collins, Evee, Florence, Sadie, Gracie, Magnolia, Wesson, Jesse, and Charlie.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 4, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary, with Pastor Kevin officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
