Surrounded by the love of family and friends, Ralph Joseph Romero, 84, of Huntsville, AL, died peacefully of natural causes at his home on Monday, July 11, 2022.
Ralph worked for 25 years with Boeing. Before his retirement, he was involved in such projects as the Saturn 5 rocket which launched Americans to the moon, and the Lunar Rover which was sometimes referred to as the moon buggy.
He was an honorably discharged Army enlistee and worked for 4 years at the Pueblo Army Depot in Pueblo, CO.
Ralph was a devoted husband. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Lynda Hall Romero. They met when she was in high school and married after saving for their first and only house. Ralph was proud to say that they literally traveled the world together.
Ralph is survived by his sisters-in-law Emily Vandiver (Robert Lane) and Barbara Hall, Huntsville, AL; Ruby Romero, Colorado Springs, CO; and Sophie Romero and Lillian Romero, Pueblo, CO. Plus numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents Reynaldo and Fedelina Romero, and his siblings Rubel, Dan, Jenny Moncivaiz, Manuel, Gilbert, and Alvin of Colorado, plus his brother-in-law George Hall, Huntsville, AL.
Ralph was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Huntsville.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 15, 2022, from 1 PM – 2:30 PM at Berryhill Funeral Home in Huntsville, with a 3 PM brief burial ceremony officiated by FBC Minister Allan Greer.at Maple Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the locally-based members of the family who helped so much during these past few months, including Emily Vandiver, Robert Lane, Melissa Hamilton, and William Hall. Plus, a special thank you to the medical personnel who were instrumental in his care.
