Verla Mae Green, age 80, of Arab passed away on Monday July 11, 2022, at home with friends and family. Verla was born on November 23, 1941, to Oscar Clarence and Beatrice Alma Bailey in West Virginia. She loved cooking, keeping grandbabies, going to church, and listening to gospel music. She was a member at Joppa Church of God.
Mrs. Green is survived by five daughters; Lisa Ard (Ricky), Risa Fillmore, Nancy Gresham, Agnes Boyd (Ken Duncan), and Beatrice Boyd; Brother; Richard and Evelyan Bailey of Virginia, Sister; Edith and Mickey Couch of Arab, and eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Green is proceeded in death by her Parents; Oscar Clarence and Beatrice Alma Bailey, Daughter; Ila Ruth Lockhart, and nine brother and sisters.
Services for Mrs. Green will be Wednesday July 13, 2022, at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. Viewing will be from 2:00pm-4:00pm with service to follow at 4:00pm. Service will be led by Brother Wayne Christmas of Huntsville and Brother Derek Sherrill of Arab. Burial will be at Arab Memorial Cemetery. Escorting Mrs. Green to her place of rest will be Anthony Lynn, Chris Morrison, Jason Atkins, Matthew Pate, Terry Andrews, Hunter Ard, Tony Johnson, and Hasten Taylor.
