Roger “Fred” Southerland, age 80, of Arab passed away on Sunday July 10, 2022 at Huntsville Hospital. Fred was born on April 22, 1942 to Terah and Rowena Southerland. He was a carpenter by trade and worked with construction, but his greatest achievement was his singing. He was a bass singer for the Galileans of Arab, and loved singing with his church family, where he was a member at Eddy Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Southerland is survived by his wife; Jonnel Southerland, son; Tim Southerland (Tina), daughter; Kellie Southerland Hudson, grandchildren; Andrew Hudson (Chandra), Laci Hudson (Jeremy), Hannah Cobbs (Matthew), and Luke Southerland (Baylee), and great-grandchildren; Gavin Ligon, Garrett Hopkins, Connor Hudson, Colt Hopkins, Emma Cobbs, Haven Cobbs, Jackson Hudson, and Micah Hudson.
Mr. Southerland is preceded in death by his parents; Terah Southerland, and Rowena Ingle Southerland.
Services for Mr. Southerland will be on Wednesday July 13, 2022 at Eddy Missionary Baptist Church. Viewing will be from 12:00p.m. to 2:00p.m. with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Eddy Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Escorting Mr. Southerland to his final resting place will be Jeremy Hudson, Matthew Cobbs, Luke Southerland, Andrew Hudson, Jeremy Bulman, Alan Walker, Rian Almond, and Eddie Mays. Honorary pallbearers are the Arab City School Bus Drivers.
