On Tuesday, June 28, 2022, our precious Mother, Grandmother, and Great grandmother passed away peacefully at home. Our hearts are broken, but we know she is with her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.
Mary Dell Taylor Pearcey was born October 12, 1929 in Bath Springs, Tennessee. Her parents are the late A. H. and Beatrice Tucker Taylor. She attended Union Hall Elementary School and graduated from Decatur County High School in Decaturville in 1946. She married James Thomas Pearcey of Lexington, TN on February 14, 1948.
She is a retired employee of Easter Seal Developmental Services in Lexington, where she served as a home trainer. She is a member of First Baptist Church in Lexington and the Glory Sunday School Class serving as class secretary. She taught the Goodwill Sunday School Class and was a member of the adult sanctuary choir for 23 years. She is a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Woodmen of the World, and conducted an inmate ministry for the Henderson County Sherriff’s Department.
She enjoyed reading, journaling, gardening, and nature. Her kindness, consideration, and mentoring to her family was a true inspiration to all who knew her. She was a totally self-less person, always putting the needs of others before her own. Not only for her family, but for everyone she knew.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Pearcey; two children, Susan Webb and Randle Pearcey; and her brother, John Truman Taylor. She is survived by three daughters, Jamella Hayes, Becky Minor of Lexington, and Vickie Deaton of Jackson; nine grandchildren, Tiana Akins, Amanda Ramer, Todd Minor, Kara Smith, Brian Hayes, Matt Pearcey, Terra Sumler, Pearce and Spence Deaton; twelve great-grandchildren; and one sister, Sarah Hayes.
A memorial will be held on Sunday, July 10, at First Baptist Church in Lexington, with Dr. Hoyt Wilson and Bro. Johnny Owens officiating. Family, friends, and others whose lives she had touched are invited to attend. Visitation will be held from 1:30 until 3:00 with memorial service beginning at 3:00.
Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Proverbs 31:28…
