Charles “Charlie” Houston Garner, age 87 of Winchester, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2022 at Franklin Manor surrounded by his family. He was born in Sherwood on September 3, 1934 to the late Anna Jewel Coffelt. Charlie was a veteran of the United States Air Force. After his military service he was employed at AEDC as an Electrical Engineer and retired after over 30 years. He was an outdoorsman and loved camping and hiking. In his younger years he enjoyed running and biking. Charlie enjoyed coaching little league baseball and taking Hannah to her horse training classes. He also enjoyed animals and kept some of Hannah’s horses at his house. Charlie attended Way of The Cross Baptist church and read in his bible every day. He will be remembered as a kind, thoughtful, and honest man, who was devoted to his faith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter Tabitha Garner Kolankiewicz. He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Melba Hunter Garner; children, Larry Garner, Gary (Debbie) Garner, and Delinda McDonald; grandchildren, Tyler Garner, Lacy Mangione, and Hannah McDonald; great grandchildren, Nicholas Kolankiewicz and Natalie Kolankiewicz.
