On January 2, 2022, there was a reunion like no other. Roger Dale Upton, 76 of Oakman, went to his heavenly home with his heavenly father for a reunion with his son, Mark Upton, and grandchildren Zachary Upton, and Cody Stimpson.
He left this world surrounded by family that greatly loved him. He was born to Estel Monroe and Tilda Jon Uptain on June 22, 1945. He was the youngest of nine children. On April 11, 1970, Roger married the love of his life Wanda Sue Davis. He was a loving father to Greg (Tammy) Upton, Mark (Danette) Upton, Lisa (Keith) Price, Melina Stimpson, and Scott (Barbara) Davis. He was pops to 14 grandkids, 12 great grandchildren, and adored many others which he claimed as his own. Roger dearly loved his family. He and Wanda Sue were married for 51 years. He loved and supported their children in every endeavor. He was his grandchildren’s biggest fan.
Roger was a faithful Christian and servant of the Lord. He attended Corona Baptist Church in Corona, Alabama for 48+ years. He served in the Army.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home, funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel. Burial will be at Gray Cemetery. Shannon Busby will officiate.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Estel & Tilda Uptain, his son Mark Upton, his grandsons Zachary Upton and Cody Stimpson, and siblings Pearl Uptain, Arline Diane Jones, Huel Uptain, Evalene Herron, James Harold Uptain, and William Uptain.
Roger is survived by his loving, devoted wife Wanda Sue Upton, 4 children Greg (Tammy) Upton, Lisa (Keith) Price, Melina Stimpson, and Scott (Barbara) Davis, 14 grandchildren Adam Stimpson, Whitney Stimpson, Jon Tyler (Brittney) Upton, Kayla (Weston) Strickland, Austin Price, Dylan Price, Branden Davis, Mackenzie Fields, Parker Davis, Isaac Davis, Bridger Upton and Harley Davis. 12 great grandchildren Bailey Stimpson, Hunter Stimpson, Tamra Price, Braylon Price, Zach Strickland, Fischer Stimpson, Walker Upton, Jaxon Strickland, Hollyn Upton, Kalvin Thomas, Finley Strickland and Alaya Thomas.
Pallbearers will be Jon Tyler Upton, Parker Davis, Branden Davis, Austin Price, Dylan Price and Weston Strickland.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bridger Upton, Isaac Davis, and Adam Stimpson.
