Michael Moore, 75, of Huntsville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 2, after a valiant 8-year battle with cancer. Born in Gadsden AL to Joseph L. Moore and Carolyn McBrayer Moore Webb, He attended public schools and graduated from Gadsden High School. He graduated from Samford University with an BA in History and Political Science. He then attended Cumberland School of Law, graduating in 1970 with a Doctor of Jurisprudence. Michael is survived, by his wife of 51 years, Joy; his children, Lee Moore Marlow (Tyler) of Trussville AL, Amanda Moore Blaszczynski (Vince) of Springville AL, and Joseph Michael Moore (Ann Marie) of Slidell, Louisiana: 8 beloved grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews. After clerking for the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals for the Honorable L. Charles Wright, Michael and Joy moved to Huntsville where he has practiced law for 50 years mostly in Real Estate Law. He was a member of the Alabama State Bar Association, The Huntsville-Madison County Bar Association, the Real Estate Section of the local bar, The American Bar Association, is licensed to practice before the Federal District Court, the United States Circuit Courts of Appeal and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the firm Moore & Helms, LLC who engages solely in the practice of real estate law. He was discharged from the United States Army, Alabama National Guard in 1978 where he served as a medical supply sergeant during the Vietnam War. He is former Vice-Chairman of the Huntsville Symphony Board and is an active member of the Huntsville-Madison County Chamber of Commerce, the Huntsville-Madison County Board of Realtors and the Huntsville-Madison County Homebuilders Association. He is also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. Aside from his career in the legal world, his great love for music was shared through many avenues including Organ performance, Carillonneur, and composer/arranger. He served as interim organist at First Baptist Church multiple times but also filled this role in many other churches throughout the state of Alabama. This passionate love was philanthropic in providing, refurbishing and the enhancing of the two pipe organs at First Baptist Church. He also enjoyed singing in various choirs and chorales throughout all stages of his life. Michael led a life of serving others. Since joining FBC Huntsville in 1971, he was on numerous committees, taught Sunday School, was an ordained deacon and always instrumental in the music ministry. He loved children and had a great concern for those served by the National Children’s Advocacy Center. He cherished his time as their Santa Claus for 10 years resulting in a deeper compassion for those who come from hard places. Michael was always looking for ways to lift others up, often, without anyone else knowing it. Michael had a very tender love for his family and was always trying to lead them to their greatest potential. In his caring for those he loved, he showed his faith through his actions and words. He loved to laugh, had a remarkable sense of humor, and would lovingly poke fun at family and friends, always to make others smile. He was generous, warm and could light up a room. He loved life and was fortunate to have many treasured, lifelong friendships. He had a way of making others always feel comfortable, accepted and valued. A true gentleman, his mischievous smile and gregarious laugh will always be remembered as well as his abundant love for those he cared about. The family wishes to thank John Waples; Charles Ritchie; Hoyt A. (Tres) Child, III; and the Doctors and nurses who cared for him at Crestwood Hospital during the last week of his life. Visitation will be from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021, in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church. A celebration of life service will follow at 2:00 p.m.
