Ten Thousand Dollar Reward for the Severely Injured Dog Found in Waterloo

FLORENCE-On the evening of October 6, Lauderdale County Sheriff deputies were alerted to a dog near the bridge in Waterloo, it was injured and tied to a pole.  The dog had severe injuries and Florence Lauderdale Animal Services Director, Cheryl Jones was contacted. The dog was initially taken to the Emergency Veterinarian, but due to the severity of his injuries, the Veterinarian suggested the dog be euthanized; Jones however, wanted a second opinion.

The Veterinarian referred the dog (now named Frank) to the Mississippi State University Animal Health Center. After further examination, the Health Center told Jones that Frank had the maximum dosage of pain medicine but it wasn’t easing his discomfort. He would need several amputations and it was more humane to euthanize him. With Veterinary students surrounding Frank and giving him love, he was put to sleep.

Following the story of Frank on Social Media, a generous donor came forward to offer a ten thousand dollar reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Frank’s torturer. Owning several animals himself, Shoals’ resident Mike Brandt (also known on-air as TicTak on 102.7 KISSFM in the Shoals, and owner of Southern Broadcasting Corporation) felt compelled to offer this ten-thousand dollar reward. Brandt hopes, “that those responsible for the brutality and ultimate death of Frank, be exposed and turned in to authorities so justice can be served.”

If you have any information, please contact Lieutenant Horton at the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, 256-760-5734 or call the Shoals Area CrimeStoppers tip line at (256)386-8685.
