Elfriede Rosa Hayes was a caring wife, mother, sister, and friend. She suddenly left this world on September 22, 2021 at the age of 72. She was born to the late Anton and Rosa Mogilewicz on October 2, 1948 in Werneck, Germany. After graduating from high school, she started her career as personal Secretary in Schweinfurt where she met and married David Hayes Sr., who preceded her in death in 1996. They traveled extensively in Europe and finally retired in Augusta, Georgia. Elfriede loved animals and cherished her cat, Precious. She was a big supporter for the Wildlife Conservation Society and numerous animal shelters. Her hobbies and interests included reading, crocheting, quilting and watching tennis and soccer. She had a green thumb with plants and enjoyed gardening. Remembering Elfriede’s sense of humor still makes us laugh and these memories will continue to bring a smile to our hearts. Elfriede is survived by her son, David Hayes, Jr; one niece, Elke; and one great-niece and great-nephew. Visitation will be 1-2 pm Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with memorial services to follow at 2 pm.
