Robert Garner Monroe Jr., age 75, passed away at Grandview Medical Center on October 6, 2026. He was a longtime resident of Anniston, Alabama.
Robert was an exceptional golfer who turned his lifelong passion for the sport into numerous tournament victories, including the 2008 Calhoun County Senior Golf Tournament. His love of golf was an important part of his life. He also enjoyed following Alabama football and the Atlanta Braves.
Born in Dothan, Alabama, Robert graduated from Anniston Academy and attended Athens State and Ayers Technical College. He worked as a cartographer until his retirement in 2019.
Robert is survived by his son, Rob Monroe; his grandson, Garner Monroe; and his sister, Penny Monroe. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert “Booty” Monroe, and his mother, Hazel Monroe (Judy).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation in Robert’s memory.
