Funeral services for James “Bud” Jacks, age 68, of Lineville will be held August 10, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville with Rev. Danny Posey and Rev. David Wilkinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Weogufka First Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pastor Bud passed away August 7, 2021 at the Clay County Hospital. He was born in Sylacauga, was a former resident of Coosa and Talladega County but had spent the last 20 years in Clay County. He had worked for Avondale Mills for several years and was currently Pastoring at Plainview Baptist Church in Winterboro and truly enjoyed visiting and ministering at the Goodwater and Alexander City nursing homes and dressing up as Santa Claus during the Christmas season. Bud also enjoyed talking about fishing even though he didn’t like to fish, was a history buff, fascinated by the Bald Eagle, touring museums and a big Alabama football fan.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Jacks of Lineville; five daughters: Rosie Wheeler (Mark) of Gardner, KS, Amy Abbott (Leonard) of Fayetteville, Cindy McGilberry (Lee) of Heflin, Traci Lee (Jeremy) of Leesburg and Kathy Pope (Calvin “Lamar”) of Oxford; Thirteen grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Shirley Taylor (Johnny) of Sylacauga and Jennie Jacks of Stewartville and his brother, Charles “Pee Wee” Kelly (Kirsten) of Oneonta, plus a large extended family.

Active pallbearers will be Daniel Davenport, Christopher Royal, Aiden Royal, Scotty Millinder, Beto Villagrana, and Donovan Bell.

The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville on Monday August 9, 2021 from 5:30 to 8:00 PM and until service time on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M.
