Judith Carol Burns - Nashville, TNJudith Carol Burns, aged 79, passed away July 22, 2021 at the Barton House Memory Care Facility in Nashville, TN due to Alzheimer’s. She was born on November 2, 1941 in Gibson, TN to Carl and June Bobbitt. She married Robert Howard Burns of Union City, TN in September, 1962. Judy was an avid reader, enthusiastic bridge player, and dedicated gardener who loved to care for flowers. She shared a passion for travel with her husband, together they adored traveling to foreign countries and visiting unique places. Their travels took them to over twenty countries, on several continents. She especially enjoyed transatlantic cruises. Her favorite city was Bruges, Belgium and she traveled there many times, including a special trip in 2012 to celebrate her 50th wedding anniversary with her daughter, son, and husband.

 

Judy graduated as co-valedictorian from Gibson High School, attended UT Martin where she majored in chemistry, before graduating from the University of Tennessee in Memphis with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology. She worked in several hospitals and doctors’ offices before retiring.

 

Judy is survived by her husband, Howard; son, Dr. David Burns and his wife, Kenzie Larsen, of London, England; her daughter, Laura, who preceded her in death in 2016; her brother, Ralph Bobbitt and his wife, Patricia, of Trenton; her sister, Brenda Ragan of Trenton; her brother-in-law, Joe Burns and his wife, Linnie, of Union City; and many nieces and nephews. All of these she loved and touched deeply.

 

Private funeral services and burial will be held at Eldad Baptist Church in Gibson, TN, where her daughter, Laura, is also buried.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
