Virginia Braziel-Sims passed from this life on Thursday, May 27, 2021 and went to be with the Lord.
Born and raised in Gurley, AL, she would serve her country during World War II as a “Rosey the Riveter” in Memphis, TN helping to assemble combat aircraft as part of the nation’s stateside war effort. Virginia was also a retired Civil Servant completing her career as a Purchasing Agent for the US Army Missile Command (MICOM) at Redstone Arsenal and was a former business owner in Hazel Green and Huntsville.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Virginia loved her family and was exceedingly proud of all they had accomplished.
She is survived by her sons: John W. Braziel, Major (Retired) Chuck Braziel (Julie); daughter Virginia Dawn Butler; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Sue Sisco; sister-in-law, Doris Albright; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents: John L. and Opal M. Albright; husbands James M. Braziel and Robert C. Sims; and son James Rickey Braziel.
A graveside service is planned at Maple Hill Cemetery on Saturday, May 29th at 3:00 PM with Rev. Tim Cole officiating. Donations or gifts in her memory may be made to a charity of your choice. Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
