James Talmadge (J.T.) Fitts, of Glencoe, Al., went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, April 10, 2021.
J.T. was born in Ohatchee, AL on October 24, 1942 to the late James Fitts and Minnie Jones. He was a 1962 graduate of Glencoe High School.
J.T spent many years racing at Gadsden Raceway, after retiring from Goodyear, drove a special needs bus for the Etowah County Board of education. He also worked as the Maintenance Manager at Meadow Oaks Apartment Complex in Rainbow City, Al.
His love for Christ and others was evident through the M.A.S.K. soup kitchen that he and his wife founded and ministered through for 9 years in the Gadsden area. He adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
He was preceded in death by his sons Jackie and Tim Fitts. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Kathy Fitts; sisters; Mickie (Allen) Dunn of Texas, Judy (Ronald) Bates of Georgia: children Lynn and Tracy Fitts, step-son, Jason (Lyndsey) Turley of Gadsden; grandchildren, Zach, Marissa and RJ Fitts, Collin, Owen, and Londyn Turley all of Gadsden.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 1st at 11:00 A.M at The Well Gadsden, 1405 Owens St, Gadsden, Al 35904.
In lieu of flowers, an account has been set up for Kathy Fitts at Family Savings Credit Union to assist with funeral cost and medical bills.
