Mildred Davis Clark, age 102, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. She was born on August 10, 1924, in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi, to Buford A. Davis and Lucy Mae Robertson Davis. She lived a life defined by unwavering faith, a generous heart, and an extraordinary love for others. Mildred touched countless lives through her kindness, compassion, and the example she set for everyone fortunate enough to know her.
In 1941, Mildred married the love of her life, Julius David (J.D.) Clark Sr. They shared 51 years of marriage until his passing in 1992 and were blessed with two sons, Michael D. Clark and Julius David Clark Jr.
Throughout the years, Mildred devoted herself to her family, providing love, guidance, and a strong foundation for those she held dear. Her love, patience, and dedication were constant throughout her life, regardless of the challenges that came along the way.
Her love extended well beyond her family. People throughout the community knew they could turn to her for advice, encouragement, and a listening ear. She believed there was always room for grace and understanding. She often reminded those around her, “We’re going to love them no matter what, because that’s what Jesus wants us to do.”
Those who knew Mildred knew that her home was more than just a place to visit. It was a place where everyone was welcome, where there was always room for one more, and where you could count on being greeted with warmth and kindness. Her kitchen was often filled with the wonderful smells of homemade baking, especially her famous caramel and coconut cakes. She had a special gift for baking and loved sharing it with others. She was constantly making cakes and treats for friends and anyone who might enjoy them. For Mildred, baking was more than a hobby; it was another way of showing people how much she cared.
Mildred was a member of Belmont United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, and worked for Blue Bell for 27 years. But her greatest accomplishments were never measured by a job title or recognition. They were measured by the lives she touched, the people she encouraged, the family she loved, and the countless acts of kindness she offered throughout her life. She showed those around her what it meant to be a loving wife, a devoted mother, a cherished grandmother, and a friend to everyone. Her life was a reflection of the faith she held so dear and the love of Christ she worked so hard to share with others.
Her faith was her foundation, her family was her blessing, her kitchen was a place of love, and her heart had room for everyone.
