Jeanne Marie Sacra Moxley, 50, died on May 9, 2019, at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, AL, due to internal injuries following a car accident a few weeks earlier. At her bedside at the end of her life were her loving mother, Nancy, and her two sisters.
Born in York, PA, on October 25, 1968, Jeanne was the youngest daughter of Nancy McNelis Sacra and William E. Sacra, Jr. She grew up in East York, where she enjoyed great friendships and many activities, including gymnastics, dance, baton, piano, flute, roller skating, snow skiing, and water skiing. In her teenage years she was a skilled horseback rider and jumper and spent a lot of time riding at a nearby farm, where she also adopted and then raised a pet chicken named Bert. Her entire life, Jeanne was a lover of animals, especially horses, birds, and her beloved pet cats.
Jeanne graduated from York Suburban High School in 1986. She went on to graduate from University of North Alabama, with honors, in social work and business administration. After graduation, Jeanne had a career as a social worker in Alabama. She was especially proud of her work with the Head Start program, which provides preschool children and their families with support for their emotional, social, health, nutritional, and psychological needs.
Jeanne moved to Gainesville, FL, in 1996, where she met her soulmate and husband, David Carey Moxley. There, they ran their business, Ace Cartridge, which remanufactures ink-toner cartridges for printers.
Jeanne later returned to Alabama to live near her father and stepmother, Helen. Jeanne went above and beyond to be a giving, compassionate friend to all who knew her. She was a beloved daughter and sister and always uplifted those around her with her beautiful smile, warmth, empathy, and sense of humor, even during adversity. Jeanne found joy in life. She loved listening to the music of the Grateful Dead and attending their concerts.
Surviving Jeanne are her mother, Nancy McNelis Sacra, of York, PA and West Yarmouth, MA; her sister, Cheryl Sacra-Paden of Westfield, NJ, with her husband, Charles Paden, and their children, Matthew, Amanda, Dustin, and Jason; and her sister, Barbara J.S. Burnett of West Yarmouth, MA, with her husband, Joel Burnett, and their daughter, Amelia. Jeanne is also survived by her former husband, David Carey Moxley, and her stepmother, Helen Sacra, of West Jefferson, AL.
