Mrs. Mabel Brown Avans passed away Friday, January 29, 2021 at the Highlands Medical Center in Scottsboro, AL at the age of 77.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2021 at The Hytop Holiness Church with Bro. James “Totchie” Mc Lain and Bro.Todd Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Hytop Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Hytop Holiness Church on Saturday evening from 5:00 to 8:00. Respectfully, the family asks all who attend to wear a mask for both the visitation and funeral for safety.
Mabel is survived by her granddaughters, Tabitha Clark and Erica (Jason) Shepherd; grandsons, Adam Trotman and Michael Peek; son in law, Chris Peek; great-grandchildren, Brady Clark, Aiden Clark, Prudence Shephard, Gracelynn Martin, Harmony Shephard, Ashton Trotman, and Jameson Shephard; sisters, Annie Lenox and Lillie Maples; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Avans; daughter, Deborah Peek; parents, Mack and Lyda Brown; sisters, Dorothy Brown, Lois Oden, and Rhee Smith; brothers, James (Bunk), Lester (Snooks), Jimmy, Ollie, Buddy, Dewey (Bodie), Billy, and Dale Brown.
