Walter Guy Gullett, 83, of Sheffield, died Saturday, December 29, 2012 after an extended illness. Visitation will be at Morrison Funeral Home of Tuscumbia, December 30, 2012 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. The service will follow at 1:30 in the funeral home chapel with burial at Oakwood Cemetery of Tuscumbia. Officiating will be Bill Gullett, Rob Gullett, and Jim Frisbie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Guy Gullett and brother, William Gullett.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marcia Underwood Gullett; nephews, Bill Gullett (Karen), Rob Gullett (Kimberly), and Jim Frisbie (Dana); niece Ann Storie (Ken); great nephews, Christopher and Ryan Frisbie, Bryce and Michael Storie, and Will Gullett; great nieces, Sarah Frisbie, Catherine Storie and Sarah Gullett; sister-in-laws, Judy Gullett and Barbara Dexter.
He was a graduate of Deshler High School Class of 1948 and a graduate of Florence State Teachers College (now UNA) Class of 1952. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tuscumbia where he served as a deacon since the age of 25. He also served on the Helen Keller Property Board for many years.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Smith, Jimmy Barnett, John Hamm, Ian Sanford, Johnny White, Don Lenz, and John Webb.
Then family would like to extend special thanks to Jim Smith, Janice Elison, and Hazel Grissom.
