Marsha Camille Haywood RobsonOn October 3, 2020, Marsha Camille Haywood Robson passed away peacefully at home in the company of her husband and her two sisters.

Marsha was preceded in death by her parents, Chapman Smith Haywood and Joyce Kersey Haywood, and by her daughter, Erin Camille Jackson. She is survived by her husband, Keith Robson of Huntsville; two sisters, Phyllis Haywood Hammack and Melinda Haywood DeMuch, both of Huntsville; and her siblings’ children, Scott David Hammack of Portland, Oregon; Catherine Hammack-Aviran of Nashville, Tennessee; and Ann Elyse DeMuch of Cleveland, Ohio.

She was born in Macon, Georgia, on November 13, 1950. After graduating from Huntsville High School (1968), she earned a bachelor’s degree at Auburn University and a master’s degree at University of Alabama.

Marsha was a loved and respected teacher in the Huntsville City School District, where she taught English at Stone Middle School for 17 years and later at Mountain Gap Middle School. During her teaching career she mentored many students and sponsored several groups, including National Junior Honor Society. She worked with student teachers and mentored new teachers, sharing her knowledge, skills, and materials. She touched the lives of many students and teachers at both schools and has been described as a “master teacher.” She retired in 2009.

Marsha attended Southwood Presbyterian Church where for several years she was a member of the choir, which she especially enjoyed. She loved American literature, the performing arts, cats, smocking, reading, and all kinds of word play. She had an eye for and an appreciation of beauty in the world around her—ballet, symphony, theater, ice skating, art, and many different kinds of music. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother, a steadfast sister, a dear aunt, a faithful friend, and a tender caregiver to her parents. Marsha was known for her gentle spirit, her graciousness, her intelligence, her compassion, and most of all for her quick wit and lively sense of humor. She was dearly loved by her family and friends.

The family greatly appreciates donations in Marsha’s memory to Amedisys Hospice Care, Parkinson’s Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, no-kill animal shelters, or any philanthropic cause that embodies our sweet Marsha’s beautiful spirit.

No services are planned.
